On Wednesday evening the 2nd May 2018 members headed off in convoy to the spectacular Rock of Dunamase. It is only a short distance from Athy, located just off the Stradbally to Portlaoise road in Co. Laois. Armed with Cameras, Tripods, Filters and great expectations, we hoped to photograph the sun setting behind the far off Slieve Bloom Mountains. However the weather had other ideas and it to be a disappointing night for photography. Undeterred members did however managed to capture the sunset. We also got some fine images of the ruins, including some spectacular silhouettes of the ruins against the night sky.
We will arrange another trip later in the year when hopefully we will be blessed by better weather and lighting conditions.
