The community of Athy are very fortunate to have the River Barrow and the Grand Canal flowing through the tow. The Barrow and Grand Canal meet just south of the town it’s a very beautiful and interesting area.
On Saturday April 21st members took a three hour river cruise on the River Barrow with the Athy Boat Tours. This gave us a chance to enjoy the natural beauty and an opportunity to capture some images. With cameras at the ready we managed to get a few wildlife and landscape shots. It wasn’t quiet the Amazon, however it was just as beautiful and at least we didn’t have to paddle our own canoes.
We must acknowledge Chris & Margaret our pilot and guide on the Day.
We would highly recommend taking a river trip, either for photography or just a relaxing out of the ordinary experience. Boat Tour details are available here
